1 Sugar House Lane is one of seven commercial buildings within the North East Quarter (NEQ) of the Sugar House Island development and the first building Copper Projects were appointed to by landlord and developer, Vasint UK. The new office village sits south of the Olympic Park in Stratford with fantastic riverside views, and just a stone’s throw away from Stratford’s bustling Westfield shopping centre.

Colonnade with a twist

Vastint UK set out to create a commercial office environment for the modern-day tenant with a focus on creative businesses. Waugh Thistelton Architects were commissioned to design the buildings which were sympathetic to the history of the site and included features like an impressive colonnade lobby, two terraces and an abundance of natural light.

We were appointed to design and build the Cat A services and finishes within the commercial office space across seven floors of this building. The scope of which included exposed mechanical cooling, lighting & power, raised floors, window blinds, decorations and floor and wall tiling.

As the first building we worked on in Sugar House Island, and the first of the seven commercial buildings to be completed by Vastint UK, 1 Sugar House Lane had to set the tone for the rest of the development; every finish, detail and system was meticulously designed, benchmarked, approved and installed chosen with the worker of today in mind.

“It’s been great having Copper Projects on board and we have found their input into the creative, technical and delivery stages extremely useful.”
